We decided to start House Tour Tuesday, a weekly feature on our Facebook fan page in which we feature a unique homes every Tuesday. This is a round-up of the house tours we’ve taken our fans on over the month of January.

Grab your passports because we’re taking you around the globe to some of the most interesting homes!

The first house tour of 2011 has to be one of the most unusual homes we’ve seen! Built in the Portland forests of the US, this curvaceous grand lady took seven years to be realised.


This home allows for panoramic views of the surrounding lush forest, making it a home we’d love to escape to for a weekend break! You can see the gallery of images here.

You were probably brimming over with excitement and home improvement ideas when the estate agent first handed over the keys to your new house. Years later some of your original ideas have been realised, some changed and concessions made as you built a place to call home.

Now you’re about to sell, getting started is proving to be tough. It doesn’t help that the FNB Property Barometer indicator dropped 0, 5% this month. However, despite the slowed residential property market, houses are still selling. According to Absa’s latest House Price Index, small houses (80 to 140sq) have shown resilient growth in June and Jacques du Toit, property economist at Absa, says the price growth in the South African housing market may be nearing an upturn.
