Wood
AMERICAN shutters uses premium timber which is hand selected and dried using a specialised Prescription Wood Conditioning technique. The technique emulates the environmental conditions of the location where the shutter will be installed which reduces post-installation shrinking and swelling.
The finest heirloom furniture is made from quarter-sawn wood to ensure generations of durability. Quarter sawing is a process of sawing logs into boards, a method that produces the advantage of stability against twisting and warping due to moisture. Cuts are made parallel to the wood medullary rays instead of across giving the wood remarkable strength and stability.
Mortise and tenon joints
Traditionally used in demanding furniture and building construction, AMERICAN shutters’ mortise and tenon joints are designed to withstand the stress and twisting forces applied when opening shutters.
Paint process
AMERICAN shutters’ hand finished painting process includes multiple sanding and coating of fine layers of paint and stain. The result is a durable professional furniture finish. The use of UV inhibitors prevents sun damage from harmful UV rays.
Core strength in stiles

Louvres
